Pediatric Dentists

Dr. SoporowskiDr. Kim | Dr. Grunes

Nancy Jo Soporowski, D.M.D.

Dr. Nancy Soporowski graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Rutgers University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where she graduated first in her class. She completed her internship and residency in pediatric dentistry at The Children's Hospital Boston, where she was appointed Chief Resident. She is a Clinical Instructor in Dental Medicine and is a member of the National Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. She is past president of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She has lectured nationally and has authored numerous journal articles in her specialty. She is also an attendant in the pediatric department at The Children's Hospital, Boston.

 

Johanne Kim, D.D.S.

Dr. Johanne Kim completed her undergraduate education at Bates College and was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry where she received an award from the American Society of Dentistry for Children for outstanding interest and proficiency in dentistry for children. She then completed a General Practice Residency at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Dr. Kim received her training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Kim is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and she maintains a courtesy staff position at The Children’s Hospital in Boston. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Association of Hospital Dentists. In her leisure time, she enjoys figure skating and art.

Brandon Grunes, D.M.D.

Dr. Brandon Grunes was born and raised in Natick, Massachusetts. After graduating from Natick High School, he went on to complete his undergraduate training at Cornell University where he graduated ‘with distinction in all subjects.’ He then came back home and received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he was awarded the Gold Medal for achieving the highest academic performance. Dr. Grunes served as the vice president of his dental class and was inducted into OKU, the National Dental Honors Society. He went on to receive his training in pediatric dentistry at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he will continue to serve as courtesy staff. Dr. Grunes remains a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Beyond dentistry, Dr. Grunes enjoys sports, trying new restaurants and astronomy.

Orthodontists

Dr. Kane | Dr. Mahdavi | Dr. Curran

James “Jamie” F. Kane, III, D.M.D.

Dr. Jamie Kane graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from Tufts School of Dental Medicine and holds a Certificate in Orthodontics. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists and the Massachusetts Dental Association. He is also the Director of the Massachusetts Association for Orthodontists and is on the Board of Directors of The Northeastern Society of Orthodontists.

Dr. Kane’s greatest personal interest outside of dentistry is technology. He has lectured at Yankee Dental Congress on integrating the modern dental office with contemporary digital equipment. In addition, he is currently involved with research that is testing the accuracy of digital equipment used in pediatric/orthodontic practices.

Dr. Kane grew up in Framingham and Holliston. He went to high school in Shrewsbury and has worked in the practice since he was 12 years old. He now resides in Holliston, Massachusetts with his wife, Krista, son and two daughters.

Peiman Mahdavi, D.M.D.

Dr. Mahdavi received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed his general practice residency at New England Medical Center and Tufts University followed by a two-year post graduate residency in orthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontics.


 

Karen M. Curran, D.D.S.

Dr. Karen M. Curran graduated with honors from Harvard University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, and obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry. While at NYU, she was inducted into the National Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. During her studies at NYU, Dr. Curran volunteered extensively treating patients in underserved areas, including Honduras and remote areas of upstate New York. Upon graduating, Dr. Curran pursued her Certificate in Orthodontics at Tufts School of Dental Medicine. In 2013, she received the Anthony Gianelly Award from the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists; the award recognizes one recent graduate each year for their promise and potential as an orthodontist. Dr. Curran is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society.

In her free time, Dr. Curran enjoys training for and competing in triathlons. She lives in Concord with her husband and two daughters.

Adrienne LeClair, D.M.D.

Dr. Adrienne LeClair received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2009 where she was awarded the Oral Pathology Award. While in Connecticut, she participated in surgical externships including an oral health mission trip to Belize. Following graduation, Dr. LeClair worked in Boston in private practice and now joins our practice as a member of the division of adult dentistry.

She has been passionate about dentistry since an early age, as her father, Dr. Donald LeClair, is a family and cosmetic dentist in Beverly, Massachusetts. He has been a longtime friend and colleague of Drs. Kane and Tesini since their early years at Tufts.

Dr. LeClair’s interests lie in all aspects of restorative, surgical and preventive dentistry. She graduated cum laude from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 2005, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. While at Colby, she earned four varsity letters in women’s field hockey.

Dr. LeClair's personal interests include cooking, skiing and sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. She alos enjoys spending time with her husband and newborn baby girl. She is a member of the American Dental Association and Massachusetts Dental Society. 

Stephen Minehart, D.M.D.

Dr. Stephen Minehart received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Previously, Dr. Minehart was a staff dentist at the University of Michigan Hospital where he was Assistant Director of Hospital Dentistry and a lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Since returning to New England in 2006, Dr. Minehart has worked for prestigious private practices in the greater Boston area, practicing family and cosmetic dentistry.

A former hospital dentist, Dr. Minehart has expertise in post-traumatic and post-surgical dental reconstruction. Additionally, he has extensive experience managing medically complex patients and fabricating dental appliances to treat temperomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, sleep apnea and snoring.

Dr. Minehart is a strong advocate of preventative care, and believes that oral health is a key part of good overall health and well-being. His philosophy is that the dental office, as a team, should provide the best possible care to meet every patient’s individual needs, whether it is routine maintenance or creating the perfect smile.

Dr. Minehart lives in Newton Corner with his wife, Rebecca, and their two daughters.

Alexander Rabkin, D.M.D.

Dr. Rabkin grew up in Newton and received his Bachelor of Science (Cum Laude) in Neuroscience from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Following graduation, he pursued his dream of becoming a dentist. He received his DMD at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, followed by an intensive one-year general practice residency at Hartford Hospital. Dr. Rabkin frequently takes continuing education courses to learn the latest techniques and procedures to provide his patients the best comprehensive dental care possible. His passion for dentistry shows through his kindness, compassion, and commitment to educating and improving the oral health of every patient. Dr. Rabkin is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. In his free time, he is an avid Boston sports team enthusiast, and enjoys traveling, cooking, and playing sports.

Endodontist

Steven Saunders, D.M.D.

Dr. Steven Saunders received his Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed a general practice residency at the Public Health Service Hospital in Staten Island, New York and received his Certificate in Endodontics from Tufts University. Dr. Saunders is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Association of Endodontists and the West Metropolitan Study Club of the Massachusetts Dental Society. He is board certified in endodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. Saunders is also a part-time faculty member in the Department of Endodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Periodontist

Sarah Stipho, D.M.D.

Sarah Stipho DMD, MS, grew up in Massachusetts and is a resident of Hopkinton. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Boston College and her dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. At Tufts, she chose to further her training and received her certificate in Periodontology. During her periodontal training, she also earned a Masters degree in Periodontology with an emphasis on bilateral sinus lift procedures.

Dr. Stipho served the profession and the community as chair of the Tufts Alumni Association of Women Dentists, board member of the National Student Research Group, and clinical instructor in periodontology for pre-doctoral dental students at the Tufts University clinic. She has participated in several outreach programs whose mission is to reach underserved communities nationally and internationally. She is currently a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration and the American Dental Association. She is an accomplished watercolor artist and a pianist certified with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Dr. Stipho enjoys every aspect of periodontology, strives to provide the best care possible to her patients and is excited to serve our community.
